Committee

2010 President Jim Hilliard, State Farm Insurance, has selected "The Woodland Chamber - Insuring Your Business Success!" as his theme for the year.  Chamber members, you and/or your employees need to know what opportunities are available in terms of involvement with the organization to which you belong.  We want to make sure you are receiving "return on your investment!"  You need to "Make connections"!

This is what your Chamber has to offer you!

Business Education - Barbara Butterfield & Pam Duey- Co-Chairs

Mission: The purpose of the Chamber`s Business Education Committee is to act as a catalyst for industry and education.  The Chamber spearheaded the "work-ready" certificate program.  This committee co-hosts Human Resources training workshops such as New Employment Laws (which is repeated every January).  They are also responsible for the Student of the Month Recognition Program.  And work with the schools on Job Shadowing, Caree/Job Fairs and Career Days.  They meet on the first Tuesday of the month, 4 p.m. at the Chamber Office.

Business Issues -  Al Aldrete, Chair - Governmental Affairs Sub-committee Chair, Joe Knieriem

Mission: The focus of the committees is to review and discuss issues and proposed City ordinances and legislation of all levels of government which could affect our economic/business climate.  The committee hears business/community issues and determines the appropriate forum for education members.  They make recommendation for support or opposition to the Board of Directors.  In 2009, a PAC Task Force has been formed.  This group meets on the third Tuesday of the month, 3:30 p.m. at the American Red Cross.

Water - Co-chairs Rich Jenness and Twyla Thompson
Mission: The purpose of the committee is to keep the members and community informed on water issues in order to make recommendations, which will offer enhancement of the quantity of Woodland`s water supplies.  The committee continues to seek viable solutions to water problems through education and programs designed to present factual information. This committee meets on the last Tuesday of the month, 8:00 a.m. at the Yolo County Farm Bureau offices.
